Weiterhin zeichnen sie sich durch eine hohe elektrische Durchschlagsfestigkeit und ein geringes Wasseraufnahmeverm\u00f6gen aus. Weitere Anforderung sind je nach Anwendungsbereich mechanische Festigkeit und Best\u00e4ndigkeit gegen\u00fcber Umwelteinfl\u00fcssen.<\/p>\n Wichtige Eigenschaften sind eine hohe Kriechstromfestigkeit und thermische Belastbarkeit. Die thermische Belastbarkeit wird durch Isolierstoffklassen angegeben.<\/p>\n Im Gegensatz zum elektrischen Strom k\u00f6nnen elektromagnetische Felder (abh\u00e4ngig von Frequenz und Wellenl\u00e4nge) Isolierstoffe in unterschiedlichem Ausma\u00df durchdringen, sind diese also nicht erw\u00fcnscht, m\u00fcssen Kabel zus\u00e4tzlich abgeschirmt werden. Eine der ersten technisch verwendeten elektrischen Isolierstoffe Mitte des 19.
